What is different on board
Six demands a rug on land never has to meet.
Curved floor plans
Almost no surface on board is rectangular. We measure on site and build templates; the cut follows the hull, not the roll width.
Humidity and temperature
Air-conditioned interiors, salt air and long idle periods alternate. Material and construction have to stay dimensionally stable — otherwise the rug ripples.
Fire safety
On board, IMO fire safety requirements apply (FTP Code). Which evidence your project needs depends on vessel type, flag and location of installation. We coordinate the specification with your shipyard and classification society.
Fixing in a seaway
Loose-laid rugs travel. Depending on the area we work with hook-and-loop systems, bound edges or concealed fixings — removable for cleaning, secure in operation.
Cleaning on board
The crew cleans, not a specialist ashore. We choose material and finish so that onboard means suffice, and supply written care instructions.
Reordering years later
A damaged section should be replaceable after years — not the entire saloon. We document yarn, colour and construction for each project and keep retained samples.
How an onboard project runs
Enquiry and clarification of requirements with shipyard or interior designer · measuring on board or from yard drawings · template building for curved areas · material samples for approval, with the required documentation on request · production · delivery and installation within the yard schedule. We work inside the shipyard’s timeline, not alongside it.
