Rugs for Boutiques and Retail
In a boutique the rug works for the brand: it directs the eye, defines zones, and has to hold exactly the colour the corporate design specifies — under accent lighting.
What matters in a retail space
Five requirements that set retail apart from every other contract environment.
Hitting the brand colour exactly
A corporate colour value is a specification, not a suggestion. We set custom colourways on original yarn and keep sampling until the tone sits under your lighting.
Behaviour under accent light
Retail spaces work with directed light. Pile, pile direction and fibre lustre decide whether a surface stays calm under spots or reads patchy — which can only be judged on a sample in the room.
Zoning and sightlines
Rug edges are the strongest means of separating circulation, consultation and display areas without building walls.
Load in the customer path
Entrances and till zones carry a multiple of the remaining floor. We specify denser qualities there and plan for replacing individual elements rather than the whole area.
Bespoke sizes and shapes
Plinths, cabinet surrounds, curved display furniture: the cut follows the furniture plan, not the other way round. Large areas are knotted seamlessly.
References
For the opening of the IWC Schaffhausen boutique in Zurich we selected rugs in contrasting colours, various designs and qualities to match the interior. For artanova Switzerland, rug designs were matched to design furniture and visualised.
Working together
We work with retail architects, store planners and brand teams. Sampling happens on site and under the actual lighting; for rollout concepts we document colour and quality so that further locations can be supplied identically.
Discuss your store project
Tell us about the space, the brand and the schedule — we will come back with a concrete proposal.
