The Khodarahm family has been leading NEGRA Carpet and Home since its founding, now in its second generation. Mostafa Khodarahm has been dedicated to the rug trade for over three decades, bringing a refined sense for stylish modern designs and high quality materials. In 2017, his daughter Negin Khodarahm joined the management team and has since contributed her expertise as an architect in the field of interior design. Together, father and daughter curate our rug collections with great experience and skill. In doing so, they preserve the cultural heritage of their Persian roots while ensuring the highest standards of quality.
Negra is a certified fair trade partner of Label STEP. We are committed to the well-being of weavers and workers in the rug industry. By purchasing a Negra rug, you support the people who made it.
As a certified Label STEP partner, we commit to following these standards and to undergoing independent inspections throughout the entire supply chain. In addition, together with STEP, we support producers in improving working conditions and empower weavers and workers through training programs focused on health, safety, and financial literacy.
These combined efforts ensure sustainability in the rug industry and help preserve a centuries old craft. www.label-step.org
In 1994, responsible rug importers founded the CARE and FAIR initiative to combat illegal child labor and counter exploitative practices. For us, it goes without saying that we are part of this mission. As a member of CARE and FAIR, we actively contribute to improving the living conditions of rug weaving families on the ground.
As part of the initiative, we are committed to making CARE and FAIR’s code of conduct for rug producers an integral part of our purchasing terms. We also contribute one percent of the import value of our rugs to CARE and FAIR. Around 85 percent of this amount flows back to the countries of origin. The funds are used to support school and training projects as well as measures to improve basic medical care in rural weaving regions. www.care-fair.org
