NOMADIC COLLECTION

Nomadic rugs are considered the foundation of rug art. A comparison with a stone facade in architecture, which still appears appealing even after a hundred years, illustrates their timeless effect.

The designs are based on traditional techniques and aesthetics that have been passed down from generation to generation and represent a more modern look.

Patterns have been revised and refined, enriched with an enhanced sense of rhythm, subdued natural color palettes have been introduced, and a contemporary, minimalist look has been created.

NOMADIC COLLECTION

The inspirations are diverse. They include vintage Berber rugs, Persian Bakhtiari kilims, an Art Deco rug, a 1976 wire sculpture by the Venezuelan artist Gego, a work from the Ocean Park series by American painter Richard Diebenkorn, and a collage by Santa Fe-based artist Cecil Touchon.

Traditionally, nomadic tribes used food items such as saffron and pomegranate to dye their rugs. Similar approaches were used for certain designs.

SKYVIEW COLLECTION

The rich cultural heritage of the Khodarahm family's homeland is a constant and abundant source of inspiration. Classical Persian rugs were based on the idea of replicating garden designs to bring them indoors. The new Skyview Collection also draws on nature as a starting point, whether from the land, the sky, or the sea.

Shifting cloud patterns, dramatic light effects, and the ever-changing colors of the sky at different times of day have inspired a series of beautifully ethereal rugs. Their delicately abstract motifs appear to shimmer and move depending on the viewer’s perspective. The misty patterns are created through the use of lustrous relief silk, offering a vivid contrast to the undyed wool background. With their subtle, multicolored combinations, these rugs bring a touch of radiance to any space.

There is no doubt that the sky is at its most dramatic during twilight. Dazzling, magical hues dance across the horizon, creating captivating effects that are reflected in the subtle yet striking stripes of the SUNSET COLLECTION, which appear to be in constant motion.

SKYVIEW COLLECTION

The Ocean Current series presents itself as naturally more dramatic, with designs inspired by the endless visual effects created by the sea when viewed from above. Surf that seems to foam and fizz. Waves that gently roll and swell, illuminated by the sun’s glow. Waters that flow back and forth in constant and relentless motion. The result is a group of rugs with a distinctly pictorial character, thanks to their freeform patterns that almost appear to have been projected onto a canvas in the style of Jackson Pollock. The designs are available in three different color variations, with the first dominated by more traditional shades of blue.
